Ten young adults, participants of the Green Visions program, diligently prepared flowers harvested from their urban and commercial cut farms for sale throughout the city, including at the bustling Rochester Public Market.

Green Visions, a workforce development program launched by Greentopia, aims to foster community health by transforming vacant lots into vibrant flower gardens.

Funding for Green Visions comes from various sources, notably from the “Reflections on the River” gala scheduled for August 1st and proceeds from the newly launched Famous Rochesterians Art Project.

Morgan Barry, director of Green Visions, emphasized the program’s critical role in supporting an underserved demographic within the community. “It’s an age group eager for employment opportunities and seeking to gain valuable experience to enhance their resumes,” Barry noted.

The initiative not only enriches Rochester’s landscape with vibrant blooms but also provides meaningful employment and skill-building opportunities for its youth.
