Egremont’s Main Street now boasts a new floral boutique, as Theresa Bailey, a 60-year-old florist originally hailing from Rutland, unveils “Creations For Occasions,” a flourishing enterprise with a televised presence and a history of supplying blooms to prominent political figures.
Ms. Bailey’s journey into the world of floristry commenced as a hobby involving silk flowers back in 2012, and has since evolved into a thriving establishment she describes as “a vital community service.”
Armed with a diploma in floristry and business studies, Ms. Bailey has dedicated herself to refining her craft, consequently earning recognition for her exceptional talent.
Ms. Bailey’s unwavering devotion to the art of floral design is evident in her vast array of offerings, as she takes immense pride in providing her customers with an extensive selection of choices. She expressed, “My foremost commitment is always to the flowers! While I do carry a selection of gifts, including candles, incense sticks, melts, etc., my primary focus remains on flowers.”
Over time, Ms. Bailey has had the privilege of creating bespoke bouquets for notable figures, including Prime Ministers, their spouses, and the President of Malta, in addition to serving embassies, television programs, and the general public. She emphasizes that every creation, regardless of its scale, holds equal importance.
Her remarkable work has graced the screens of television shows and been featured in an online magazine, where she showcased her expertise in designing a rooftop garden.
Ms. Bailey’s floral prowess even extended to the airwaves when she made an appearance on BBC Radio Cumbria, discussing the art of roses with Pete Moss.
Acknowledging her exceptional talent and dedication, Ms. Bailey has earned a nomination in the “Best Florist” category at England’s business awards in Cumbria.
One standout feature of Ms. Bailey’s business is her 24-hour nationwide delivery service. She ensures the freshness of her hand-tied bouquets during transit through the use of water-retaining beads, guaranteeing that customers receive impeccably fresh flowers regardless of their location.
One of the greatest joys of being a business owner, Ms. Bailey notes, is the freedom it grants her to exercise her creativity. She remarks, “The most rewarding aspect of owning this business is the autonomy I have in creating unique floral arrangements, choosing plants and flowers, and making overall purchases for the business.”
