Ghazipur, India – On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the Ghazipur flower market is abuzz with activity as people throng to purchase flowers for both the festival and the upcoming G20 Summit.
A vendor at the Ghazipur flower market, in conversation with ANI, noted a surge in customers over the past few days, as they flock to procure flowers for both events, bringing about prosperity and excitement for vendors and farmers alike.
“Numerous flowers are in high demand, destined for decorative purposes during the G20 Summit. In the last 2-3 days, numerous customers have been acquiring flowers for Janmashtami and the upcoming G20 Summit. We are witnessing a surge in business, and there is palpable enthusiasm among vendors; farmers are also reaping substantial benefits,” the vendor remarked.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, wishing “new energy and enthusiasm” for all citizens.
“Many greetings on Janmashtami. May this auspicious occasion of devotion infuse new energy and new enthusiasm in the lives of all my fellow countrymen; this is my wish. Jai Shri Krishna!” PM Modi, who is currently in Indonesia for the India-ASEAN Summit, conveyed through a post on ‘X’.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his greetings on this occasion.
“Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki! Happy Shri Krishna Janmashtami to the people and devotees of the state. May Lord Krishna bless the entire creation,” he expressed.
Annually, Hindus celebrate Janmashtami to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, the God symbolizing playfulness and innocence. According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. Typically, this day falls in either August or September, according to the Western calendar.
The festival of Janmashtami involves offerings of prayers to Lord Krishna, adorned swings, dance and music performances, and the popular ‘Dahi-Handi’ competition.
