Tel Aviv’s Habima Square was adorned with a poignant 70-meter-long floral display on Thursday, shaped into the resounding words, “We Stand With Israel.” Comprising thousands of meticulously arranged blooms, this touching memorial pays tribute to the 1,300 Israeli lives lost during the devastating wave of Hamas terrorist attacks and atrocities on October 7.

The message, presented in both English and Hebrew, echoes the words of United States President Joe Biden, who expressed unequivocal support for Israel during those trying times.

The public is warmly invited to participate in this commemorative gesture by weaving one of the hundreds of funeral wreaths that will adorn the monument in honor of the victims.

The sprawling display boasts a kaleidoscope of flower shades, symbolizing a steadfast message: “We are here, we will live, and we are not going anywhere,” as conveyed by the project’s organizers.

The letters forming the heartfelt message were meticulously crafted by a dedicated team of volunteers known as “flower people,” who have been tirelessly preparing wreaths for the numerous funerals held across the country over the past 13 days.

While flowers are not a traditional component of Jewish funeral customs, they have become more prevalent at Israeli funerals. In the wake of the October 7 tragedy, Lehi Salpeter Danziger, collaborating with the Mate Yehuda regional council, initiated a nationwide commemorative project to create thousands of wreaths for funerals, relying entirely on donations from weavers, flower growers, and the local community.

Salpeter Danziger emphasized the magnitude of this endeavor, stating, “You have to understand that there are no wreaths left in Israel anymore.”

This heartfelt display of solidarity and remembrance underscores the resilience and unity of the Israeli community in the face of adversity.
