Milton residents are experiencing unexpected bursts of joy as bouquets mysteriously appear at gas stations and parks, thanks to the thoughtful efforts of Josh Fredo, owner of Friendly Flowers in Milton. Fredo initiated the “Lonely Bouquets” project in coastal towns, aiming to uplift the spirits of the local community through simple yet heartfelt gestures.
In a time where people face various challenges, Fredo believes in the power of small acts of kindness to boost local morale. “We think it’s a good time to try and boost local morale,” Fredo stated, underscoring the importance of spreading joy during difficult times.
The “Lonely Bouquets” initiative has gained support from individuals like Steve Hanlon, a Milton resident who recognizes the significance of fostering kindness in a world often marked by isolation. “We get a little isolated… We don’t look at each other the way that we used to, and we ought to start doing more of that,” Hanlon expressed. “I think random acts of kindness do that; it forces you to get out of your shell and interact with one another.”
Beyond the “Lonely Bouquets” project, Fredo’s goodwill extends to collecting old Christmas decorations and trees, repurposing them into unique Christmas trees. The aim is to spread the festive spirit to those who may not have the means to celebrate otherwise.
“We’re repurposing them to make unique Christmas trees so that people who can’t afford them can still have the Christmas cheer,” Fredo explained. “If they have kids and can’t afford a Christmas tree, we’ll find out through different charity organizations and then donate it to them.”
