Statistics reveal that approximately one-third of Americans mark Mother’s Day by purchasing flowers, and Hannibal Garden Center is experiencing this surge firsthand, witnessing a brisk turnover of floral offerings.

Nestled in Monroe County, Hannibal Garden Center has been a cherished destination for Mother’s Day shoppers for over three decades. Owner Bob Heslep anticipates an influx of visitors over the upcoming weekend.

“Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are bustling days for us, and on Sunday, many individuals accompany their mothers or wives to select exquisite blooms, fostering cherished moments,” remarked Heslep.

Despite the bustling activity in recent weekends, Heslep reassures customers that a wide array of options still awaits them, boasting of 12 expansive greenhouses on the premises.

“At present, our hanging baskets and annuals are in high demand,” noted Heslep. “We have particularly stunning hibiscus varieties that have been capturing customers’ attention. Overall, it has been a gratifying year thus far.”

Operating seasonally, Hannibal’s takes pride in cultivating a significant portion of its inventory in-house. For those considering purchasing flowers for maternal figures in their lives, Heslep advocates for supporting local businesses.

“All of our plants are cultivated locally, and we employ individuals from our valley, thereby retaining financial resources within our community, bolstering the tax base, and fostering local economic growth,” emphasized Heslep.
