The 47th Yercaud Summer Festival commenced on Wednesday, inaugurated by State Agricultural Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary Apoorva, IAS. The festival, designed to enhance the tourism experience, will entertain visitors over the next five days with a variety of events catering to all age groups.
Salem District Collector Dr. R Brindha Devi highlighted the festival’s inclusive approach in a press statement. “A display featuring over 200,000 flowers has been arranged at Anna Park by the Horticulture Department,” she said, adding that the exhibition showcases sustainable practices, including windmill-generated electricity.
In an effort to engage children, floral arrangements depicting beloved cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Tom and Jerry have been created. Additionally, an exhibition of over 30,000 potted plants is on display, alongside exhibits spotlighting the various coffee varieties produced locally in Yercaud.
The festival will also feature a pet show, musical performances, a photography exhibition, and boat races. For further information, QR codes providing details on police, rescue services, fire, and medical services have been posted throughout the hill station.
The Yercaud Summer Festival promises a vibrant celebration of nature and culture, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
