Shrewsbury’s annual Flower Show is set to dazzle this year with a star-studded lineup and an unprecedented surge in floral exhibits. Headlining the event are celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager, renowned BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Sue Kent, and ITV’s ‘Love Your Weekend’ star Camilla Bassett-Smith, known for her appearances alongside Alan Titchmarsh.
Joining them is Andy Clarke, the mastermind behind Saturday Kitchen Live, bringing his expertise to the festivities. The show, scheduled for August 9th and 10th at The Quarry, promises a weekend of floral splendor and celebrity encounters, with all guests slated to be present throughout.
Due to overwhelming demand, organizers have expanded the venue’s floral marquee, accommodating over 35 exhibitors—more than double last year’s count. The horticultural section has also been amplified, complemented by a bustling marketplace featuring over 150 vendors.
Show chair Leanne Garvey expressed delight at the response, noting, “We’re thrilled with the surge in exhibitors this year—both seasoned participants and newcomers. The need for additional space prompted us to secure a larger marquee, ensuring a spectacular showcase.”
For those drawn to the show’s enchanting evening finale, featuring fireworks set to Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds soundtrack, organizers have introduced ‘evening only’ tickets. Emphasizing the limited capacity of The Quarry, Garvey advised, “To secure a spot for the finale, a day ticket is the best guarantee, valid from 10am until the fireworks conclude.”
Celebrated as one of the UK’s premier horticultural events, the Shrewsbury Flower Show, managed by the Shropshire Horticultural Society, boasts a rich history spanning more than 130 years. As a registered charity, the society continues to support local initiatives with proceeds from the event.
With its blend of celebrity allure and floral brilliance, this year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show promises to be an unmissable highlight on the summer calendar.
