Spalding residents and flower enthusiasts can mark their calendars for May 10, 2025, as the beloved Spalding Flower Parade is set to return, organizers have officially announced. The event, a long-standing tradition in the town, will be hosted at the Springfield Events and Conference Centre.
This revival comes after a setback earlier this year when concerns over council support, bureaucratic hurdles, and the search for a suitable venue led to the cancellation of the 2025 edition. The Castle Sport Complex, the parade’s previous venue, is currently undergoing extensive renovations amounting to a £26 million investment, necessitating the need for an alternative location.
In addition to the main parade, organizers are planning a lively evening of entertainment preceding the event, complemented by a convenient shuttle bus service for attendees’ convenience.
Originally inaugurated in 1959, the Spalding Flower Parade continued annually until a hiatus in 2013. After a brief revival in 2023 and 2024 at the Castle Sports Centre, the ongoing construction prompted organizers to seek out the Springfield Events and Conference Centre, situated on the outskirts of town, which previously hosted the parade.
Committee members expressed their excitement at returning to familiar grounds, emphasizing that the parade route will closely resemble previous editions, showcasing traditional floats and vibrant marching bands.
Adrian Jansen, Chairman of the Springfields Horticultural Society, conveyed his enthusiasm for assisting in organizing the parade, expressing hopes for a joyful and memorable day for all participants.
