MAQUOKETA, Iowa — Nature enthusiasts in Jackson County are invited to immerse themselves in the beauty of prairie flowers at an upcoming event hosted by the Jackson County Conservation.
Scheduled for August 31st at 2 p.m., the event will be held at the Hurstville Interpretive Center, located at 18670 63rd St. in Maquoketa. According to details released in an online event announcement, participants will have the opportunity to explore the local prairie, identify various plants, and delve into their historical significance.
Attendees will embark on a guided stroll through the prairie, where they will gather an assortment of prairie flowers and grasses. Upon returning to the interpretive center, they will receive expert guidance from event organizers on crafting their own prairie flower bouquets, complete with practical “tips and tricks.”
Basic supplies including newspaper and twine will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring their own vase or mason jar to house their creations.
