Belvoir Castle is set to host its annual Flower and Garden Show this weekend, promising a vibrant experience for gardening enthusiasts and flower lovers. This much-anticipated event, now in its seventh year, will take place from Saturday, August 31, to Sunday, September 1, 2024, in the scenic grounds of the Leicestershire castle.
The two-day show has become a key date for those with a passion for horticulture. Attendees can look forward to a packed schedule of expert talks, demonstrations, and exclusive tours of the castle’s renowned gardens.
Among the featured speakers is Jonathan Moseley, a celebrated local floral designer and public speaker known internationally for his expertise in floral art. With over 30 years of experience, Moseley will share his insights on gardening, offering practical tips on growing late summer and autumn plants and creating stunning floral displays. A familiar face to many, Jonathan has previously showcased his skills as a floral expert on BBC’s The Big Allotment Challenge. He is also an accomplished writer, broadcaster, and demonstrator.
“I love being able to spread the word about growing and arranging beautiful seasonal British blooms and I can’t wait to see everyone at the show,” Jonathan said. “I want to demystify the art of arranging flowers while highlighting the health and wellbeing benefits they bring. It’s also important to encourage people to get creative with homegrown flowers and foliage, and this event is the perfect opportunity to inspire them.”
The event, set against the backdrop of Belvoir Castle’s magnificent gardens—designed by the eminent 18th-century landscape architect Capability Brown—will also feature other top garden designers. These experts will demonstrate their creativity and skills with various Show Borders, alongside Belvoir Castle’s head gardener, Andy Tudbury.
“The Flower and Garden Show at Belvoir Castle is a highlight of the year for me,” Andy commented. “It’s wonderful to see visitors learn more about the world of horticulture and leave the event feeling inspired, full of ideas to try in their own gardens.”
In addition to the talks and demonstrations, visitors can enjoy guided tours of Belvoir’s stunning parkland, designed by Capability Brown, which includes areas typically closed to the public, such as the estate’s vineyard. The castle’s eateries, including the Belvoir Bistro, Belvoir Farm Shop, and the Aviary Café, will offer a variety of food and drink options throughout the event. Attendees can savor delicious dishes, homemade cakes, afternoon teas, and snacks, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Regency-era castle.
For those looking to take home a memento, a range of stalls will be available, offering unique items and gardening essentials.
Tickets for the Flower and Garden Show, which include entry to the garden and adventure playground, are priced at £13.50 for adults, £5.40 for children, and £37.80 for a family ticket when booked in advance. The event will be held at Belvoir Castle, Grantham, Leicestershire, NG32 1PA.
