After a one-year break, the Philippine Consulate General made a successful return, partnering with the United Architects of the Philippines-Hong Kong Chapter. The collaboration won the “Merit Award for Unique Feature” for their display, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Philippines-China diplomatic relations. The design featured a replica of the Filipino “Balangay” boat alongside the Chinese “Junk” boat, both symbols of the Philippines and Hong Kong. This combined display represented cultural heritage and mutual resilience, placed above a bed of golden flowers symbolizing the strong friendship between the two regions. Flowers in the exhibit included “Everlasting” flowers from Baguio, the “Cosmos” (the show’s theme flower), “Aster,” “Chrysanthemums,” “Begonia,” “Million Bells,” “Kalanchoe,” “Daisies,” and a bonsai tree.

The Blue Grass Project Philippines also earned recognition, winning the “Merit Award for Design Excellence” for their contribution to the show.

On March 16, the Overseas Filipino Community in Hong Kong hosted a cultural performance for an international audience. The show featured traditional Philippine folk dances like “Binasuan,” “Subli,” “Itik-Itik,” “La Jota Moncadeña,” and “Tinikling,” along with street dances from festivals such as “Mammangi” and “Dinagyang.” The performance was led by the Tinikling Group of Migrants, One Visayas Hong Kong, Dynamic Overseas Migrant Organization Hong Kong, and the Ilagan City Migrants Alliance.

The Hong Kong Flower Show, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is a major event that draws approximately 650,000 visitors. This year’s show, under the theme “Ablaze with Glory,” features over 400,000 flowers from 238 organizations, including 81 exhibitors from 11 countries.
