Surrey, UK – The RHS Wisley Flower Show is set to commence in Surrey on Tuesday, and as a result, heightened traffic congestion is anticipated on several key routes, including the M25 at junction 10 and the A3, along with surrounding roadways.
Scheduled to run from Tuesday, September 5, to Sunday, September 10, the flower show is expected to draw a substantial number of visitors. National Highways is advising all road users traveling in the vicinity or attending the event to allocate additional time for their journeys.
Jonathan Wade, Senior Project Manager at National Highways, emphasized the significance of the historic flower show in the region’s summer calendar, anticipating a surge in traffic on the M25, A3, and nearby routes.
“We have collaborated closely with the Royal Horticultural Society and Surrey County Council to minimize any potential disruptions,” Wade stated. “Nevertheless, as with any large-scale event, I would strongly encourage all motorists to verify travel conditions before setting out and to factor in extra travel time.”
To mitigate inconvenience for motorists departing from the flower show, National Highways has outlined temporary adjustments to the road layout on the A3 northbound.
During peak hours from 2 pm to 6 pm, a dedicated lane will be designated on the A3 northbound for vehicles exiting Wisley Lane. This measure aims to enhance the efficiency of access to the A3 for those continuing their northward journey towards Painshill Junction or the M25 J10 Interchange.
In addition to these changes, extra signage providing directions and guidance will be strategically placed along the routes, complemented by the presence of National Highways traffic officers to oversee major thoroughfares.
For those heading to the RHS Wisley Flower Show, adhering to the official signed routes is advised, as this will help minimize the likelihood of delays and facilitate smoother travel during the event.
