Visitors will find convenient parking at the Grove Field Airport parking lot, located just around the corner from Shangri-La at 632 NE 267th Avenue, Camas. From this airport parking area, guests can embark on a charming 1/4-mile trail through the woods leading to Shangri-La Farm. Alternatively, they can opt for a delightful ride aboard the free Electric Sunflower Mobile shuttle, ensuring a fun and hassle-free journey to the farm.

Shangri-La Farm is currently home to approximately 350 dahlias, encompassing a rich tapestry of around 70 different varieties. Liz Pike, the farm’s owner, shared her enthusiasm for this year’s dazzling dahlia season, “This year’s warm temperatures and mild autumn weather have resulted in one of the most brilliant dahlia seasons on record. I’m thrilled to share the beauty of these flowers with our community. Be sure to bring the kids to this family-friendly event!”

As a special treat for young attendees, children will have the opportunity to interact with the free-ranging chickens of Shangri-La Farm during the flower festival.

For those interested in the art of floral arrangement, hourly demonstrations will be conducted by Liz Pike herself, a local artist, Clark County Master Gardener, and accomplished beekeeper. Pike equates the art of flower arranging to painting, emphasizing the textures and colors provided by dahlias, making each bouquet a unique masterpiece. “Dahlias offer so many textures and colors in which to work with. One of my favorite times of the day is when I get to design beautiful bouquets of dahlias for my farm stand customers,” shared Pike.

The Autumn Flower Festival, scheduled from 11 am to 4 pm, will not only feature floral arranging demonstrations but also guided tours of Shangri-La Farm’s diverse gardens. Visitors are invited to explore the organic flower gardens, vegetable beds, fruit orchard, berry patches, herb gardens, a recently established 50-plant rose garden, and a 50-plant English Lavender garden. Additionally, you can witness the farm’s apiaries and observe busy honeybees in action.

Richard Pike, Liz’s son, will lead an apple cider press demonstration throughout the day. This demonstration offers an opportunity for the public to witness the age-old tradition of apple cider pressing. Free samples of freshly pressed apple cider will be shared with festival-goers.

Adding an artistic touch to the event, several Plein-air artists from the Northwest Oil Painters Guild will be painting live in the lush organic gardens at Shangri-La Farm. This offers a unique chance to see artists capturing the beauty of the surroundings in real time.

Lizzy Jane’s Flower Market, a part of Shangri-La Farm, provides custom dahlia bouquets available in season, perfect for wedding flowers, special occasions, or home and office decor. All the flowers are proudly grown using 100% organic methods. The farm stand at Shangri-La Farm offers an array of delightful items all year round, including farm-fresh eggs, an assortment of flowers, farmhouse pastries, honey from Shangri-La Farm’s own bees, organic berry jams, and seasonal produce.

Established in 2010 by Liz and her husband Neil Cahoon, Shangri-La Farm has transformed a neglected property into a flourishing garden haven that welcomes birds, bees, and people year-round.
