In Lai Vung District, Dong Thap Province, tangerine gardeners are actively tending to their orchards, fertilizing trees, and pruning branches to ensure a bountiful harvest in time for Tet. Unusual weather conditions, marked by frequent rain and wind, require extra care to prevent diseases. Despite the challenges, many orchards are expected to yield high-quality tangerines.

In Cao Lanh District, growers of Cat Chu mangoes are focused on cutting buds and applying organic fertilizer to ensure timely fruiting for the Tet holiday. Traders have already started making deposits to secure mango purchases, indicating strong market demand.

Meanwhile, in Tan Tru District, Long An Province, farmers have been planting various vegetables, such as cowpeas, chili, pumpkin, cabbage, okra, and green onions, since November. Learning from the previous year’s experience, the local administration has organized planting schedules to ensure a timely harvest for the Tet market.

In Ben Tre Province, ornamental flower gardeners are cautious due to prolonged rainy weather. To avoid excess inventory, many are producing according to specific orders. Growers in Cho Lach District have learned from past experiences and are planting fewer flowers to manage market risk. Excessive or prolonged rainfall has led to waterlogged soil, affecting flower growth. Farmers are focusing on replanting to compensate for damaged flowers.

Tien Giang Province’s flower villages, including My Phong, Tan My Chanh, Trung An, are facing challenges due to waterlogged soil. Despite this, farmers are concentrating on planting new flowers to replace damaged ones. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Tien Giang Province reports that farmers have planted over 1,500 pots of various ornamental flowers to supply the Tet market.

In Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang Province, watermelon, pear melon, and melon cultivation are underway. The district’s farmers have sown nearly 1,000 hectares of these fruits in the key crop-growing area.

As Tet approaches, these dedicated farmers are working tirelessly to ensure a diverse and plentiful supply of crops and flowers for the festive market, contributing to the joyous atmosphere of the Lunar New Year celebration.
