The 2024 Great Plains Growers Conference and trade show in St. Joseph, Missouri, will feature Karen “Mimo” Davis as the keynote speaker, sharing her extensive journey in becoming a year-round grower and seller of cut flowers in St. Louis. The conference, scheduled for January 11 to 13 at Missouri Western University, will cover various topics, including making urban farms flourish.
Davis, who operates Urban Buds in the Dutchtown area of St. Louis, will speak on “Finding Your Niche for Farming Over the Long Haul.” With over 30 years of experience, she is recognized as one of the best cut flower growers. Participants can expect insights into growing, marketing flowers, and valuable entertainment during her presentation.
The conference will address diverse subjects such as business development/marketing, fruit trees, small fruits, vegetable production, integrated pest management, organic/regenerative agriculture, greenhouse/hydroponics, high tunnels, cut flower production, and forest farming. Additionally, a new Farm-to-Table Dinner event offers a glimpse into agritourism with added-value options.
