The sudden closure of Country Greenery, a well-known floral business in downtown Moorhead, has left the community with more questions than answers. A notice appeared on the shop’s entrance last week, simply stating, “Country Greenery is temporarily closed.”
Nearly one week later, customers and employees report minimal, if any, communication. Customers who placed orders with the florist assert that their flowers were never delivered, and they have received no information about the status of their orders.
Adding to the confusion, phone lines have been disconnected for a week, and the business’s website has been taken offline.
Bill Greaves, a Creative Professional from the United Kingdom, shared his experience of working extensively for the shop after being hired by owner Bill Cater to enhance their online presence. Despite investing significant hours in designing the website, Greaves claims he has not received any payment. Invoices sent to Cater reportedly total $5,000.
Greaves expressed frustration, stating, “Everything just went quiet, like nothing. No response to me; he just dropped off the radar. He literally will not respond to me.”
In connecting with others, Greaves found a common theme of individuals owed money for various contracted and freelance work.
According to Google, Country Greenery had two open locations: 17 5th Street South in Moorhead and 5675 26th Avenue South, Suite 104, in Fargo. Both locations are now closed.
As customers and contractors like Greaves await responses, uncertainties loom over the fate of Country Greenery. Attempts to reach the business via social media have gone unanswered thus far.
