The 26th Chrysanthemum show at Punjab Agricultural University unfolded its floral spectacle on Wednesday, enchanting flower enthusiasts and nature lovers. The Dr Manmohan Singh Auditorium at the university became a vibrant canvas adorned with over 4,000 potted Chrysanthemums, offering a captivating display.
The exhibition featured a creative showcase that included a map of Punjab and a stunning 15-foot butterfly, both meticulously crafted using Chrysanthemum petals. The event attracted over 300 entries from participants, ranging from amateurs and educational institutions to avid flower lovers, all vying for recognition in various categories.
The competition spanned 11 classes, encompassing styles such as incurved, reflexed, intermediate, spider, decorative, single or semi-double, pompon or button, anemone, and spoon. Local institutions like BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, DAV Public School, Delhi Public School, Sant Kirpal Singh Senior Secondary School, and Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women showcased their botanical prowess, adding to the diversity of the event.
Delhi Public School emerged as a standout, securing the maximum number of prizes. The prestigious “Overall Best Pot of the Show” trophy was claimed by Mohinderpal Singh, adding a crowning touch to the floral celebration. The Chrysanthemum show not only highlighted the beauty of these blossoms but also fostered a sense of competition and camaraderie among flower enthusiasts in Ludhiana.
