Running until March 9, the exhibit features approximately 80 artworks in various mediums, offering visitors a diverse and vibrant experience. Meghana Mitragotri expressed her long-held desire to organize a floral art show, stating, “Throughout my art journey, there have been a lot of friends that I’ve met that have really inspired me. I thought, wouldn’t it be nice to gather a group of my friends that are excellent artists for a show like this?”

“Flora in Focus” made its debut last August at the Livermore Public Library and has now found a home at the Harrington Gallery, thanks to the collaboration with the Firehouse Arts Center. Meghana Mitragotri, reflecting on the project’s evolution, remarked, “That was our very first ‘Focus’ show. Then this year, the Firehouse Arts Center got in touch with me and asked if we would like to do a show at the Harrington gallery. Now, here we are.”

The exhibit underscores the diverse talent within the Tri-Valley community, featuring artworks that explore the theme of flowers from various perspectives. The artists’ interpretations highlight the universal appeal of flowers, symbolizing nature’s gift and their ability to enhance moods and environments.

Meghana Mitragotri, who grew up in Southern India surrounded by a scientific community, credits her parents for encouraging her pursuit of artistic endeavors alongside academic commitments. She found her passion for watercolor painting, a love she carried into adulthood and eventually turned into a successful art career after settling in the Tri-Valley in 2021.

Apart from her artistic endeavors, Meghana Mitragotri has played a significant role in the local art community. She served as the president of the Pleasanton Art League for two years (2022 and 2023), contributing to the organization’s resilience during the challenging times brought about by the pandemic. Reflecting on her role, she stated, “We focus on bringing in diverse cultures within our memberships. This has been a very fulfilling and rewarding experience of my life.”

“Flora in Focus” not only aims to bring a floral-themed art show to the community but also seeks to honor the talented artists involved. Meghana Mitragotri expressed hopes for the exhibit to make appearances at other venues in the future.

For those interested in experiencing “Flora in Focus,” a gallery reception is scheduled for February 3 at the Firehouse in downtown Pleasanton. The event will include refreshments, raffles, and real floral arrangements, with each artist contributing one piece of art to the raffle.
