Showcasing Newtown’s Green Talent

The theme of this year’s flower show was “Bursting Into Spring,” a fitting motif that echoed throughout every division, section, and class of the Standard Flower Show. Newtown’s garden clubs, as in previous years, made their mark on the competition. Notably, four local gardening enthusiasts — Becky Osborne, Deb Osborne, Paula Toi, and Peggy Townsend — proudly earned a total of 10 ribbons and awards at the event. All four individuals are valued members of The Garden Club of Newtown, with Peggy Townsend additionally belonging to the Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown.

Floral Triumphs and Community Spirit

The achievements of these Newtown gardeners not only reflect their green thumbs but also showcase the vibrant gardening community in the area. The triumphs at the Connecticut Flower & Garden Show underscore the dedication and passion of local gardeners, contributing to the beauty and vibrancy of Newtown and its surrounding regions. As the winter chill begins to wane, the burst of floral creativity heralds the imminent arrival of spring, and Newtown’s gardening community stands ready to welcome the season with open arms.
