Rochester, N.Y. — The vibrant atmosphere of the Rochester Public Market came alive yesterday as Flower City Days at the Market made its much-anticipated return.
This lively event showcased a multitude of vendors, attracting a bustling crowd eager to explore a treasure trove of outdoor art, gardening essentials, and an array of plants including perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, potted plants, herbs, and vegetables.
Sydney Aspenleiter, among the many attendees, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “We are planting a garden for my mom for Mother’s Day as a surprise, so I wanted to get some flowers. I like supporting local. Prices are great, too, and it’s nice to just get out on a Sunday.”
Adding to the allure, master gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County were readily available, offering valuable insights and expert advice to gardening enthusiasts.
In the spirit of community and sustainability, Flower City Days at the Market also introduced a give-and-take container exchange outside the Market Office, providing gardeners with the opportunity to contribute or acquire gently used flower or plant pots, flats, and various containers.
Following the successful kickoff yesterday, Flower City Days at the Market will continue to enchant visitors on May 12 (Mother’s Day), 19, and 26, as well as over Memorial Day Weekend on Friday, May 24, and Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day).
